Odds, totals and special bets

What are bets on odds, totals, halves and special markets: how these types of markets work and why they are needed in sports betting.
Expert Igor Grigoriev

Modern betting has long gone beyond just betting to win. Players expect a deep line in which they can analyze the match in parts, select specific events and use advanced analytics. Bets on odds, totals, halves and special markets provide more opportunities for strategy, maneuver and value search.

Betting on halves

What is it: a bet on the outcome of one part of the match - the first or second half (or a period in hockey, a set in tennis, etc.).

1st-half win

Total goals only for the second half

The outcome of each half separately

Advantages:
  • Increased predictability in unstable commands
  • Ability to play only active start/finish
  • Suitable for live analysis and micro betting

Betting on odds

What is a handicap: an artificial advantage or lag added to the team's result.

Type Example Result
Fora 0 Win = win, draw = return Protected rate
Fora -1. 5 Need to win by 2 + Aggressive forecast
Asian handicap Dividing the rate into 2 outcomes Complex but flexible

Pros:

  • Ability to increase coefficient
  • Protection against a draw or minimal error
  • Especially relevant in equal matches

Betting on totals

What is total: bet on the number of goals, points, cards, corners, etc.

Total Over 2. 5 - bet wins with 3 + goals

Total Less than 4. 5 - bet wins at 4 goals or less

Individual total - the number of goals of one team

Asian total - fractional variants (e.g. 2. 25)

Why it matters:
  • You can bet not on the outcome, but on the dynamics of the match
  • Works well with live analytics
  • Convenient for mathematical strategies

Special markets

These are bets on non-obvious or unique events, often with a high coefficient:
  • First goal/last sending off
  • Who will give more corners
  • Specific player cards
  • Exact score
  • Record, own goal, goal from the penalty spot, etc.
Why are we needed:
  • For entertainment, diversity and marketing
  • For experienced players looking for non-standard values
  • Option for unique strategies and live games

Support in the platform

Calculations and graphs total/handicap in analytics

Odds, totals, halves and special markets are tools for advanced betting. They allow you to analyze events more deeply, more accurately formulate a hypothesis and find valuable bets where the majority sees only victory or defeat. The richer the line, the higher the involvement and satisfaction of the players.
